I think we should set up a FAQ, just like with the other forums.

I personally don't want to set up the whole thing myself, but I found this link

<!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://actionadventure.about.com/od/lifeaquaticwstevezissou/index_a.htm">actionadventure.about.com...ndex_a.htm</a><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END-->

which covers a hell of a lot.

<!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://joblo.com/index.php?id=6136">joblo.com/index.php?id=6136</a><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END-->
Also, from this interview at joblo with Wes, this part could be used

"Is it true that you wrote THE LIFE AQUATIC as a short story, back in college?

Yes, but the story I wrote in college is only a paragraph. All there is in that short story, is this guy Steve Zissou—actually he’s Steve Cocteau in the story—his wife Eleanor, and then his ship, the Belefonte. He’s making a show for Italian television, which isn’t exactly the same in the movie."

So basically if anyone finds something they think would be worthy of contributing the FAQ would just post it here and then someone could volunteer to make a structured FAQ and we can tack it at the top of the forum.

yeah... <p>______

1. What is the song that's not on the soundtrack that plays during the submarine scene?
-- Sigur Ros - Staralfur

2. Where there any cameos from the Wilson/Anderson family?
-- Eric Anderson (Wes' brother) and Robert Wilson (Owen's father) played Air Kentucky pilots in a scene towards the end of the movie.

- Does Ned appear on the Belafonte during the end credits?

Not sure if this has been definitively answered yet, but the consensus seems to be that he does. The meaning of it, however, is the subject of much debate.

Kubrick, Kubrick, Kubrick....... I would love to ask Wes if he is paying homage to Kubrick's 2001 in his movies when a violent or shocking scene happens. The soundtrack goes silent and the images are fast and chaotic like in 2001 with Hal and the guys in the space pod, and also when he kills the crew. In TLA it is the helicopter crash scene.

CW <p>"I'm talking about putting a brick through the other guys winshield!"</p>

I dont' think that's a FAQ, more like a question -- can we please leave this forum for confirmed facts"? Thanks. and sorry.

This may not be a Frequently <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>Asked</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> Question, but I found it interesting none the less.

During the "Let me tell you about my boat" segment, Zissou mentions his mentor Lord Mandrake, and when he says "He's dead now" a picture of Mandrake comes on the screen.

This picture is either a recreation, or an actual photo by Jacques Henri Lartigue, who was also the visual inspiration for the Yankee Racers pose in Rushmore.

I figured this out after going to <!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://www.lartigue.org/indexus.html">www.lartigue.org/indexus.html</a><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END-->

For some reason my screen capturing won't capture the still from the movie, but if anyone can capture it, it's clear that it's the same photo, or a close reproduction. <p>______

What is in a Rum Cannonball?

2 ounces rum over rocks.  Top off with orange juice, and a float of 4 or 5 dashes of Angostura Bitters.

What are some of the other foods and drinks featured in the film?

All I can remember is Campari.....

Here is a website with more interviews from Wilson, Murray, and Anderson.

<!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=7709">www.comingsoon.net/news/t...hp?id=7709</a><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END-->

When you want to do the structured FAQ I will be happy to do it.

This is both Off Topic aswell as on.

I've read a lot of people asking how to see a lot of the Cousteau shows that Zissous films are based on, and in answer to that question, a box set of the complete Jacques Cousteau Odyssey show are available next week.
